Four-Week Drawing Courses:

Drawing Curiosities in and around Russell Square

September 24 - October 15, 2010

Fridays mornings from 10am - 1pm

80 GBP includes instruction and all materials.

Draw objects from strange and wonderful collections near Russell Square, including the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, The Grant Museum of Zoology, the Sir John Soane Museum, and the Wellcome Collection. Coursework will cover 'getting an object on the page', measurement and proportion, tone, and texture. Appropriate for beginners through intermediate drawers, or advanced students looking to brush up on their skills. Maximum 8 students.

The Human Figure in Art at the National Museums

Friday evenings from 5:30 - 8:30pm

November 5 - 26, 2010

80 GBP includes instruction and all materials.

Learn about gesture, human anatomy and proportion, heads, and hands and feet. Classes will take place at the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Victoria and Albert and National Portrait Gallery, all of which are open late on Fridays. Appropriate for beginners through intermediate drawers, or advanced students looking to brush up on their skills. Maximum 8 students.

Saturday Drawing Classes

Drawing Interior Spaces: The Wallace Collection (Central London)

September 18th

10am - 4pm

Appropriate for beginner to intermediate drawers. Maximum 8 students.

35 GBP includes instruction and all materials (lunch not included)

Learn to create a sense of space in your drawing using the one-point perspective system. You'll receive a thorough introduction to one-point perspective and practice in the colorful and ornate rooms of the Wallace Collection.

A Sense of Place: The Old Operating Theatre and Herb Garrett

(near London Bridge Station)

October 16th

10:30am - 4:30pm

Appropriate for more confident drawers (intermediate to advanced). Maximum 8 students.

40 GBP includes instruction, materials, and entrance fee to the museum

Come draw from the amazings objects and spaces in the attic of St. Thomas Church. The museum includes an elegant wooden operating theatre and a mysterious garrett full of herbs and Victorian treatments under the wooden eaves of the old building.

Focus on Specimens: The Hunterian Museum (Lincoln's Inn Fields)

10am - 4pm

Appropriate for all levels. Maximum 8 students.

Come draw from the hundreds of medical, animal, and plant specimens at the elegant Hunterian Museum. Inspired by the intriguing forms in lovely old glass jars, you will learn to make drawings that evoke a sense of texture, materiality and reflectiveness.
